[Basic Knowledge] Calendar Molding: Regarding Thickness Uniformity

The entire roll's temperature can be maintained uniformly without losing heat! Sheet molding is possible with the appropriate thickness.

Thanks to the temperature adjustment function, our company can uniformly mold the entire thickness of the sheet. When heating the roll, we do so by passing a heat medium through pipes inside the roll. In the case of steam, the central part of the roll can maintain a sufficient temperature, but heat is lost at the pipe's entrance and exit, making it difficult for adequate heat to reach the edges of the sheet. As a result, the resin at the edges becomes less pliable, making it impossible to roll adequately, and the edges of the sheet end up thicker than the adjusted thickness. In contrast, with oil, the temperature of the entire roll can be maintained uniformly without losing heat. This allows sufficient temperature to reach the edges of the sheet, resulting in smaller overall thickness deviations and enabling the sheet to be molded to the proper thickness. *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.*
